Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ruined by Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds)

Posted on March 04, 2011

We’ll entertain all your gripes and criticisms about Marvel vs Capcom 3, but one complaint we simply won’t allow is anything pertaining to the music. Do you have any idea how good you’ve good it? Oh… you haven’t heard the music in Marvel vs. Capcom 2?! An acapella Nickleback song would’ve been an improvement over the biodigital, Mario Paint jazz ensemble that scored two world’s fate ten years ago. But guess what? Now we kinda miss it… Back it goes! “Gonna take you for a ride…”

Marvel vs Capcom 3 Rejected Character Audition Tapes — Sasquatch, Squirrel Girl, Blair Herter

Posted on February 20, 2011

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has plenty of characters for you to choose from, over 30 actually. If your favorite character from either the Marvel or Capcom side didn’t make the list, these audition tapes might be why. This time Sasquatch, Squirrel Girl, and Blair Herter are auditioning. Sasquatch has the power to be Canadian. Squirrel Girl can talk to squirrels, which is bound to come in handy if you hang out at college campuses. And Blair Herter has the power to look like the guy from Road Rules. Oh wait he is that guy, I knew it. Which characters do you want to see as DLC for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Takes On Marvel vs. Capcom 1 And 2 — Comparison Video

Posted on February 18, 2011

The Marvel vs. Capcom games has been a popular series over the past two decades. Between three games there have been dozens of changes to the franchise; graphics, characters, audio, story. Well the story hasn’t changed much, it’s still as vague as before. Some things will never change though, like the globe of characters where you choose your fighters. Check out our comparison video for Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Which is your favorite?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is out now for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Audition Tapes For Rejected Characters — Background Zombie, Chad Namor And Drunk Link

Posted on February 17, 2011

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds has over 32 characters representing both Marvel and Capcom’s best heroes. Captain America, Ryu, and Storm are just some of the noble fighters for you to choose from. Not every character made the cut though. These are the audition tapes for the characters that were rejected from Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I personally think Background Zombie from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Chad Namor, the duo of Dunk Link and Tingle would all make great fighters with really unique combo moves. Capcom are you reading this? There is some serious potential DLC right here!

Shoryuken’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ‘Hyper Guide’ is a good place to start

Posted on February 15, 2011

It’s okay — you don’t have to wander into Marvel vs. Capcom 3 without hope or direction. Fighting game site extraordinaire Shoryuken has put together an incredibly comprehensive guide on the new brawler, including videos on basic strategies, tips for playing each character, and super esoteric info on prolonging those sweet, sweet combos.

We suggest starting out with Shoryuken’s video series on the basic mechanics of the game. If you have a hard time grokking the execution of Advancing Guards, or the X-Factor Hyper Move Cancel Maneuver, or the Omega Diagonal Pause-Shift Ground Combo Refraction Evasion Technique, you might just have to rely on good ol’ button-mashing.

(Yes, we made that last one up.)

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (Review)

Posted on February 15, 2011

Marvel vs Capcom 3 is a celebration of everything that makes videogames great. It’s a celebration of Capcom’s heritage. Of comic books and super heroes. Of laser beams, celestial brush strokes and grenade launchers. A celebration of button mashing and obscene complexity of control. Of combos, juggling and finishing moves. But most of all, it’s a celebration of everything that makes the very word ‘videogame’ excite our minds. And it’s time you joined the party.

Another new portable title out this week is Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together for the PSP. The title is a remake featuring extra subplots, new and redesigned characters, and added gameplay mechanics that allow players to turn back time, either to change the story’s direction by revisiting key plot points or to replay critical points of individual battles for a better outcome.

Gamers who prefer not to use a controller can pick up two new Kinect title this week. THQ’s Dance Paradise and Brunswick Pro Bowling are both out on Tuesday.

Special Forces tentacle-fest! Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath confirmed for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds)

Posted on November 16, 2010

Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s character roster is expanding at the rate of moderately-sized star going supernova at the moment. Just hours ago, our very own Mr. Tyler Nagata brought you the news that She-Hulk and Zero are in, and now, thanks to the ever-flapping tongues of loose-lipped retail, we know that Resident Evil’s Jill Valentine and eldtritch cosmic demon – and nemesis of both Dr. Strange and Conan – Shuma-Gorath have made the cut.

The Future of … Everything ! All of our Epictober Future of Posts

The Future of ... Everything ! All of our Epictober Future of Posts

This week during Epictober, we took a look at the future of the major game genres and highlighted what lies beyond the horizon in the storm of games that are approaching on an imminent tidal wave of inbound 2010 titles. What shooters should you be prepared for? What fighting games should be on your radar? If leaping and jumping is your thing, then what platformers should you start thinking about?

Keep reading to get an excerpt from each of our prognosticating posts, and then head on to read the full features. Thanks for helping us make everything all the more Epic!

The Future of Shooters: Looking Forward At Crysis 2, Gears of War 3, Duke Nukem Forever And More

The Future of Shooters

  • Duke Nukem Forever: So why are we looking forward to DNF? Because it’s Duke f*&$king Nukem and it’s actually happening. Before PAX, I would have been more willing to believe that my mother had taken up stripping at 60 than to believe that DNF would ever come out. You saw my mom naked on stage dancing to “ABC” by the Jackson 5? Sure. Duke Nukem is coming out? Go f&*k yourself.

The Future of Action / Adventure Games: Looking Forward At Bioshock: Infinite, L.A. Noire, The Last Guardian And More

The Future of Action / Adventure

  • Batman: Arkham City: Arkham City refers to a section of Gotham which newly elected mayor Quincy Sharp has ordained as “no man’s land.” Sharp takes all the citiy’s various criminals and locks them in a slum, with no supervision. The rest of Gotham is kept safe by armed guards who patrol the perimeter. When Two-Face brings Catwoman into Arkham City with the intention of murdering her, Batman is forced to swing into action, save the day and crack some skulls along the way.

The Future of Platformers: Looking Forward At Portal 2, Disney Epic Mickey, LittleBigPlanet 2 And More

The Future of Platformers

  • LittleBigPlanet2: Sure, the original LittleBigPlanet is a play on the traditional platformer, and so is the upcoming sequel…but only if you want it to be. With all the new user-creation modes, the ability to transform this loveable Sackboy adventure into an RTS, an FPS or an arcade-style shooter – hell, pretty much any genre you could take the time to re-create – is poised to make LittleBigPlanet 2 into the ultimate meta-game.

The Future of ... Everything ! All of our Epictober Future of Posts

The Future of Fighters

  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds: Definitely one of the most eagerly anticipated fighters in years, MvC3 seems hell-bent on dribbling out information about the game, one character at a time. Could you ever have imagined that we would have Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins and M.O.D.O.K. from the Marvel Universe in the game? I mean, the guy is just a giant head in a floating chair. Gimme some Captain Britain or The Beyonder or something. I just can’t rally behind bighead.

The Future of ... Everything ! All of our Epictober Future of Posts

The Future of RPGs

  • Star Wars: The Old Republic: A fully-voiced MMORPG is something that might have seemed damn near impossible a few years back, but leave it up to BioWare to actually make this absurdly ambitious prospect a reality. This also happens to be the first Star Wars-based title from the developer since it unleashed one of the greatest games of all time, RPG or otherwise, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, so it has that going for it, which is nice.

The Future of ... Everything ! All of our Epictober Future of Posts

The Future of Strategy Games

  • Rock of Ages: Of all the strategy games on this list, it’s nearly impossible not to be the most excited about Rock of Ages, and that is due in no small part to the fact that it is entirely off the wall. In this game, you use a giant boulder to blow through 30 different unit types in an effort to destroy your enemy. But, these unit types are meant to stop your big, giant, rolling, round rock. It’s just that simple. You set up your ball and try to squash your opponent and pound his castle into splinters, while he sets up obstacles in your bath to throw your ball off course.

The Future of ... Everything ! All of our Epictober Future of Posts

The Future of Motion Control

  • Sorcery: Finally, a game that lets you use the Move for something that makes perfect sense. Without trying to shove it in somewhere it doesn’t necessarily belong, Sorcery allows you to play as a wizard with a magic wand. This isn’t wimpy s@%t, though. You’ll use your wand to hurl magic missiles and do other awesome wizard stuff. Out of all the upcoming PlayStation Move titles, Sorcery excites us the most. It might seem a little on the head to use the Move as a wand, but why fight it? Being a wizard sounds good to us.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Media Shows X-23, Tron Bonne

Posted on September 16, 2010

Capcom has delivered a great glob of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds media at the Tokyo Game Show starring the recently-revealed Tron Bonne and unveiling Marvel’s X-23 for the cross-over beat ‘em up.

While you might know Tron Bonne from the Mega Man series–who doesn’t!–you may very well ask “Who’s X-23?” Why, she is of course the sullen, teenaged, female clone of Wolverine created to be a sexy, fan-pleasing version of the grizzled, hairy canuck for reasons perhaps best not considered. And now we both wish you hadn’t asked.

The first of four new trailers show the two in action on rival teams.
