PixelJunk Shooter 2 Survivor Files Episode 2 Is Still Strange And Entertaining

Posted on March 01, 2011

I was never under the impression that there were robot lions flying in space, despite my fandom of Voltron. But sadly, some people do think that robot lions exist in space thus they decide to join mass corporations in order to work in space, with the end consequences not being that good. No, I am not having another mushroom enhanced mind trip as a Native American Shaman sits next to me as I’m merely talking about the latest episode in the PixelJunk Shooter 2 Survivor Files series.

The Horror Continues In Dead Space 2: Severed [Video]

Posted on February 27, 2011

I think gamers are still trying to figure out whether to fully embrace new DLC for a video game shortly after a game is released, but I think we can all agree that more of a good thing is never bad; even if it costs $6.99.  After scaring the crap out of us last month, Dead Space 2 is kicking off its first major wave of DLC with the release of Dead Space 2: Severed.

Xpand 3D Glasses – The Best Universal 3D glasses We’ve Seen Yet [Review]

Posted on February 24, 2011

Overall Feeling:

Anyone who is serious about 3D or has experienced “eye fatigue” while watching longer 3D experiences needs to try these glasses.

ShogunGamer.com Rating :

Let me start by saying I am not a huge fan of 3D. While it is an interesting tech and will inevitably be standard one day, I have always seen it as a gimmick. I also happen to be one of the few that find it hard to sit through feature films presented in 3D. I wear contact lenses and I often need to take a few 30 second breaks throughout really intensive 3D experiences. So needless to say, for me to give anything related to 3D a 9/10 is a huge comment in itself.

A New Sci-Fi RTS Is Announced In The Form of Fray

Posted on February 23, 2011

I really don’t care if it’s for a genre I’m not terribly fond of, but if I’m shown a cool video for a game that has a nice premise along with some unique concept art, you got me hooked for the time being. An example of this is the recently announced turn-based strategy game Fray. Developed by indie French studio Brain Candy, Fray is a multiplayer centric strategy game that involves gamers entering virtual worlds in an attempt to escape the ever growing problems that face the world at the onset of global warming.

David O. Russell Once Again Talks About His Live-Action Uncharted Movie

Posted on February 21, 2011

At this point, I think the hate and criticisms film director David O. Russell receives from the gaming community is almost beyond justified. Whenever he’s interviewed and the forthcoming live-action Uncharted film is mentioned we usually hear stuff that is beyond silly and highly frustrating.  The Uncharted film may not have entered production yet nor does it have a cast finalized, but hearing David O.

Hard Corps: Uprising [Review]

Posted on February 21, 2011
Overall Feeling:
Hard Corps is a grueling, 2D, side-scrolling, bullet-hell of a shoot-‘em-up and exactly what the Xbox Live Arcade needs. In a world of gamers gone soft, it is incredibly unforgiving in a way that makes you appreciate each step of the journey that you’re able to complete.
ShogunGamer.com Rating :

The one good thing about the over-saturation of video game/movie titles has become that there is truth in advertising these days. Starting back with Snakes On A Plane, the necessity to start naming media based on what it is, rather than a really super-cool sounding title with no attachment has become more and more prevalent. Still though, there are periods in time when a catch title can lead one to question what is in store.

Cave Announces A Trio Of New Titles For The Xbox 360

Posted on February 20, 2011

I’m a huge fan of the shmup genre (2D or 2.5D side-scrolling shooting games) and while the genre may not be as popular as it was back in the day, at least we have developers like Cave keeping the tradition alive.  The publisher behind some of the most popular shmup games on the market has announced three new titles for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Arcade.  The hardcore legion of shmup fans out there know Cave best for their sometimes off the wall concepts, and I don’t think their new titles will disappoint in that regard.

Telltale Games Debuts The First Trailer For Jurassic Park: The Game

Posted on February 20, 2011

You give gamers anything that has dinosaurs in it and you’re guaranteed to get an audience of some sort, even if it starts out as a small one.  But if you give gamers and the mainstream audience in general a game with dinosaurs that just so happens to be based on the Jurassic Park franchise I think you may have an epic hit on your hands.  After sharing some details with us last month, developer Telltale Games has finally released the first in-game trailer for their …

SteelSeries Spectrum 5XB Headset Review

Posted on February 18, 2011
Overall Feeling:
The SteelSeries Spectrum 5XB is a headset for your Xbox 360 (and PC) that is built for the professional gamer. The headset lets you separate your online teammates’ voices from the sounds explosions, gunfire, planes flying overhead, the whole nine yards. So, if your teammate is barking orders your headset will turn down the games audio automatically through the LiveMix.
ShogunGamer.com Rating :

After years of perfecting their gear for the professional PC gamers over in their platform; SteelSeries has finally released a console entertainment headset with the Spectrum 5XB Xbox 360 Gaming Headset. SteelSeries has gained a reputation of creating nearly indestructible gaming hardware. From keyboards you can smash between a door to a gaming mouse you can throw against the wall and it will be ok. The 5XB is no exception to the reputation that the gear company has gained.

A Survivor Of PixelJunk Shooter 2 Recounts His Nightmare

Posted on February 16, 2011

Being a miner or scientist in space isn’t easy, especially when working on an alien planet that has never been explored before.  There’s loads of money and exciting new things to be found being a deep space miner/scientist but when you find yourself attacked by aliens or stranded in lava, then you may be regretting your career choice.  Take for example the chap in the video below who left to go space bound in the hopes of finding a new energy source.  Did he find said energy source?  Sadly he didn’t and instead he found himself traumatized and suffering a bad case of PTS

Stryker Joins The Cast of Mortal Kombat: Rebirth

Posted on February 16, 2011

From starting out as what seemingly seemed like nothing more than a one and done film pitch, Mortal Kombat: Rebirth has quickly blossomed into what could be an amazing project if everything falls into line.  With Director Kevin Tancharoen (the dude who directed the original pitch short) at the helm of the nine part MK: Rebirth web series, we should receive the same dark and grounded MK retelling we all fell in love with last year.

Latest Alice: Madness Returns Trailer Features More Stabbing And Twisted Images

Posted on February 16, 2011

I guess Alice: The Madness Returns may be ready to emerge from whatever rabbit hole she has fallen into as a new trailer for the surprised sequel has been released.  Last year EA announced that they would be releasing another installment of developer American McGee’s twisted and highly mature vision of the classic and I think that the majority of gamers were somewhat shocked by the announcement.  The shock felt by gamers wasn’t just because of the announcement concerning the Alice sequel but because the teaser trailers for the game were a mix of creepiness and shocking violence …

You Don’t Know Jack [Review]

Posted on February 13, 2011

Buy You Don’t Know Jack. It doesn’t matter what platform you’re buying it on its a good solid enjoyable game that you can go back to time and time again.
ShogunGamer.com Rating : 8

It has been quite some time since the purple jewel case containing my copy of You Don’t Know Jack: The Ride, has left its shelf.  That particular copy has seen a large majority of my computer systems.  Looking back I can still see myself sitting in my computer cubby, playing the game over and over again for hours.  By the time it hit its final resting place on my game shelf, I wouldn’t be surprised if I knew all the answers to all the questions in the game.

Latest PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter Video Shows Off SOCOM 4

Posted on February 12, 2011

In just less than two weeks Sony will be launching the Sharp Shooter controller add-on for the PlayStation Move.  The first major Move add-on released by Sony, the Sharp Shooter potentially marks a big change in how we play fps and third-person action games that utilize the PS Move. For the people who don’t pay attention to plastic based console add-ons, the Sharp Shooter is a housing/controller in which the PS Move and a Nav Con can be placed inside, thus allowing the player to hold a small gun while they play games like Killzone 3 or SOCOM 4.
