We’re never in short supply of 2D side-scrolling shooting games so what’s the harm in getting another title for XBLA and possibly the PSN? I know my otherwise sarcastic tone is indicative of the sometimes jaded vibe I give off, but I think we may have a title to keep our eye on in the form of Fallen Frontier. Coming to us from Moonshot Games (which consists of former Bungie staffers) Fallen Frontier has all the familiar trappings of a standard side-scrolling action game, but for all we know it could end up being this year’s surprise hit like Shadow Complex was two years ago.

The XBLA House Party continues this week with Bejeweled Blitz Live. It seems silly to explain it, considering you’re probably playing Blitz on Facebook at this very moment, but the Live take is PopCap’s classic gem swapper with a simple twist: You only get one minute to play.
If you need yet more distraction from things you should be doing, check out our preview of Bejeweled Blitz Live in the latest XBLA in Brief after the break.

Indie games on Xbox Live Arcade have been a bit hit and miss but last November I played one title that really stood out for me: Tempura of the Dead. A throw back to the old days of 8-bit gaming, Tempura of the Dead offered a ridiculous premise, retro chic visuals and gameplay that was difficult yet very addicting. Developed by the Japanese studio 8bit Fanatics (which is one dude), Tempura of the Dead took XBLA Indie gamers by storm and now it’s time for the latest project from 8bit Fanatics.

Marvel Pinball is coming, people, so if silverball isn’t heroic enough for you, you’re in luck. Marvel Pinball will be an expansion to Pinball FX 2 on Xbox Live, but a seperate game totally on The PlayStation Network. In the game, you’ll “use your pinball wizardry to help Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Blade save the world from the most notorious Super Villains on four beautifully crafted pinball tables.” I’m not sure how playing pinball can possibly save the world, but I’m not going to worry about it too much.
“We are so honored to work with the greatest Super Heroes of all time, and have really focused our efforts into bringing each distinct personality to this one-of-a-kind pinball experience,” said Zsolt Kigyossy, Managing Director for ZEN Studios. “You will find each Marvel Pinball table captures the essence of each Super Hero, creating a game that is an authentic Marvel experience. This is just the beginning of Marvel Pinball; you can count on more of your favorite Marvel heroes and villains to be making appearances in the near future.”
You won’t have to wait long either; you can expect Marvel Pinball to be released before the end of 2010.

The last we’d heard of Zombies!!! for Xbox 360, an Xbox Live Arcade adaptation of the killer board game, it was seeking a new developer after the prior one lost its head. Turns out the Xbox Live Arcade version is still alive and will be handled by Babaroga, the same developer that just brought the game to Windows Phone 7.
According to Twilight Creations, creators of the tile-based strategy board game, the XBLA version should be out sometime in the first quarter of 2011. Three years after it was first announced, it would seem the game is finally headed for release. Considering it’s a game about classic zombies, we understand that development can shuffle along slowly.
