Microsoft Wants You Unleash Your Xbox Live’s Avatar

Posted on March 04, 2011

Microsoft asks; What if you could bring your Xbox Live Avatar to life? Pondering your answer? Well while you try to figure that conundrum out, Microsoft may have provided the answer by introducing three new ways for Xbox Live Avatar Fanboys to show off their love for their digital self in dimensions never thought possible.

That’s right! You can now transform your virtual doppelganger into an actual 3-D action figure, a Fathead poster to offend your wall with or forever etched unto a Microsoft Zune HD.

Bulletstorm demo blows up Jan. 25 on Xbox Live, PSN

Posted on January 14, 2011

“It can’t possibly be that stupid, can it?”

It’s the thought we’ve had from the moment we first saw the game title (which is still Bulletstorm, by the way) to when we heard an NPC call the player a “butt chugger” and “wiener apprentice,” or whatever it is they actually say. Can the game really be this meatheaded and still, by most accounts, be a joy to play? You’ll be able to judge for yourself when a demo for the game drops on Xbox Live and PSN on Tuesday, January 25. (If there’s a PC demo on the way, EA has made no mention of it.)

The Bulletstorm demo features the score-attack “Echo Mode,” which provides a sliver of the campaign with rigid time and weapon constraints, and then compares your score against friends. Your tolerance for being profanely insulted will not, as far as we know, be tested.

Puzzle Game Ilomilo Is Secretly Available On Xbox Live

Posted on November 27, 2010

Southend Interactive’s amazing puzzle game ilomilo is secretly available on Xbox Live! Don’t tell anyone though, we wouldn’t want gamers learning that a great new game is available for download. And don’t bother looking for it on Xbox Live’s marketplace. It isn’t there. To access this game, you’ll have to visit this secret web page to get a redeemable Xbox Live code. This code unlocks the trial version, but like all Xbox Live titles, you have the ability to buy the full version if you choose to (for 800 MS points or $10).

When is the last time you heard of a game getting a secret release? As cool as I think this is, not letting gamers know that a game is available seems like an odd business decision. Southend’s next employee meeting will likely go something like this:  “It would appear that our decision to hide the game from the public has resulted in craptacular sales. These numbers are even worse than that Rocky and Bullwinkle game. You’re all fired. And…before you go. We should point out that we’ve hidden your last paycheck somewhere in the office. Good luck finding it.”

Last I heard, ilomilo wasn’t scheduled for official release until January. Getting it a full month early is a nice surprise. I wonder what other games are secretly available?

And don’t bother using the code in the screenshot above, an incredibly talented gamer already punched it into his Xbox 360.

Marvel Pinball Coming To Xbox Live, PlayStation Network

Posted on November 16, 2010

Marvel Pinball

Marvel Pinball is coming, people, so if silverball isn’t heroic enough for you, you’re in luck. Marvel Pinball will be an expansion to Pinball FX 2 on Xbox Live, but a seperate game totally on The PlayStation Network. In the game, you’ll “use your pinball wizardry to help Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Blade save the world from the most notorious Super Villains on four beautifully crafted pinball tables.” I’m not sure how playing pinball can possibly save the world, but I’m not going to worry about it too much.

“We are so honored to work with the greatest Super Heroes of all time, and have really focused our efforts into bringing each distinct personality to this one-of-a-kind pinball experience,” said Zsolt Kigyossy, Managing Director for ZEN Studios. “You will find each Marvel Pinball table captures the essence of each Super Hero, creating a game that is an authentic Marvel experience. This is just the beginning of Marvel Pinball; you can count on more of your favorite Marvel heroes and villains to be making appearances in the near future.”

You won’t have to wait long either; you can expect Marvel Pinball to be released before the end of 2010.
